Stephen Darby Joins Town

Finally after every other League One team has strengthened their squads with loan signings since the start of February, Danny Wilson has got his man as Stephen Darby has today joined Town on loan from Liverpool until the end of the season. Darby has seen his first team opportunities limited at Liverpool this season, as is unfortunately the norm for many English youngsters

Town v MK Dons

Town were at the MK Dons tonight.  A rearranged fixture from a snowy January.  One of our two games in hand along with a visit to Southampton next week. Wilson made two team changes with Morrison and Pericard in for Greer and Austin who drop to the bench. Morrisons mistake led to the opening goal after 90 seconds with Wilbraham taking the

Rampant Rovers

Yesterday we were promised the bragging rights to banish the memory of the 3-0 defeat against Bristol Rovers at the Memorial earlier this season.  However, our 4-0 home defeat shows you can take nothing for granted and, when Swindon lose this season they surely know how to do it in style. To say Swindon played poorly would be very disrespectful to

Paynter’s Contract

Earlier today Danny Wilson revealed Bill Paynter had yet to sign a new contract with Town, which would extend his stay beyond June 2010. With Paynter finding his scoring boots and hitting 19 league goals so far this season, there has been much recent speculation about his future. Apparently Town offered Paynter a new contract in early January, but the original

7 Team Race?

Town have won 6 points against Carlisle and Stockport to further cement our play-off position. It’s a sign of the times and new found quality that we won these games despite not playing at their best. Both games were the proverbial “banana skins” against lower placed teams, where in previous seasons, Town would have probably dropped points. With MK Dons

Austin and England U21s

The Adver speculated Austin may be called-up because Stuart Pearce (who lives locally) attended a game. U21 squad strikers are Andy Carroll (Newcastle Utd), Nathan Delfouneso (A Villa), Daniel Sturridge (Chelsea) and Danny Welbeck (PNE / Man Utd). Full squad available

Financially Stable?

After reading this article today I can’t help feeling this will distort many fan’s view of the true financial picture of the club. Specifically this response from Wilson: We have to be self-sufficient to a certain degree if we can, and that’s what we are trying to do now. The board have helped get the debt out of the club

Every Goal Counts

Despite a few moments of individual skill and good link up play in the second half, last night’s 4-2 win over struggling Oldham Athletic was perhaps the poorest 4-2 match I’ve ever seen.  Also, isn’t 4-2 such a naff scoreline and makes the match seem a fantastic goalfest when most of the match was very poor! But what I’m more

Charlton – 2 points dropped (again)

Whilst the talk this morning is of a lack of fitness against Charlton, which resulted in Town surrendering their single goal lead on Staurday.  There was more to this defeat than fitness, exposing an awful lot about Wilson and the squad. Austin looked very tired and despite working hard as usual, couldn’t be his typical attacking threat.  Wilson was too late to substitute
