2010 STFC Review: August

Despite the despair of play-off defeat the mood around STFC for the season was high. I even put £30 on Town to finish in the top 3… In came Michael Rose, David Prutton, David Ball (on loan), Simon Ferry, Paul Caddis then Thomas Dossevi. On paper I certainly was led to believe Town were asserting a strong claim to mount a

Town v Wednesday Match Preview

After the trip to Crawley….errr I mean round Iain’s to watch it in comfort on ESPN, attention turns back to the bread and butter of League One this Saturday against Sheffield Wednesday…. weather dependant. With Town failing to hit any sort of consistency, other than consistently shipping goals in at the back, we’re all left wondering how and when our season will resemble anything

At Last… The First League Win of the Season!

I never doubted our ability to eventually deliver and we certainly deserved the 3 points against a rudderless Southampton, whose arrogant and deluded management and fans need to realise they are a League One club. It was a tight affair with possession 49/51 in favour of Southampton. Chances were limited with an equal amount of shots on and off target. It was only in

Substitutions: Making an Impact

On paper we appeared to have strength in depth. I also thought…perhaps we might even be blessed with the ‘strongest’ Town squad for some years. So why hasn’t this manifested itself into an onfield advantage, leaving us winless after 5 league games? So far on the bench this season we’ve seen Amankwaah, Ball, Caddis, Dossevi, Ferry, Jean-Francois, Jesionkowski, Morrison, Prutton, Sheehan,

Town at Franchise FC

Town travelled to Pete Winkleman’s stolen football club with high hopes of finally securing a first win of the season, and in doing so start to look upwards to fulfil our raised expectations. My visit to StadiumMK was a first Town away game (excluding Wembley) for some time. After lunch and taking in the sight, yes the sole sight of

Town v Brighton: Early Days…

There’s me only a few days ago posting my league predictions… Swindon to finish 3rd I triumphantly stated! However the Wembley hangover continued. Like last season Town started with an opening defeat, after going down 2-1 against Brighton at the County Ground this afternoon in what was ultimately a disappointing and disjointed game for both sides. Town were sorry and second best throughout. At times it appeared the players didn’t know each other.

Bhoys Are Coming to Town

With the imminent arrival of Simon Ferry and Paul Caddis from Celtic, who are expected to be unveiled before the Nottingham Forest match tomorrow, it seems strange and exciting at the same time, that Town now find themselves in a position to state their intent and commit to splash the cash by paying a significant transfer fee for the first time in a while. Chairman
