Player of the Year?

The Swindon Advertiser Player of the Year voting closed Thursday night, my vote being cast and awaiting the result at the Brentford game on Saturday, I’d thought I’d share my thoughts on who I think deserves to win the coverted title. For once it has been a tough decision. The team have largely performed so well over the course of

Blue-Moonrakers?

Play-Off bound Swindon chairman Andrew Fitton and Manager Danny Wilson must be praised for their loan strategy this season. All loan signings with the exception of Ben Hutchinson have shone in the first team. The quality of the loans are an integral reason why with 3 games to go we are firmly in the race for promotion, having secured at

Town v Walsall

Once again Town fans were left wondering why the overall dominance couldn’t be converted into a win, as Town go three games without a victory. Wilson fielded a full strength and unchanged team following the Easter Monday comfortable 3-0 win over Tranmere Rovers. Importantly Town

Rampant Rovers

Yesterday we were promised the bragging rights to banish the memory of the 3-0 defeat against Bristol Rovers at the Memorial earlier this season.  However, our 4-0 home defeat shows you can take nothing for granted and, when Swindon lose this season they surely know how to do it in style. To say Swindon played poorly would be very disrespectful to

Paynter’s Contract

Earlier today Danny Wilson revealed Bill Paynter had yet to sign a new contract with Town, which would extend his stay beyond June 2010. With Paynter finding his scoring boots and hitting 19 league goals so far this season, there has been much recent speculation about his future. Apparently Town offered Paynter a new contract in early January, but the original

Charlton – 2 points dropped (again)

Whilst the talk this morning is of a lack of fitness against Charlton, which resulted in Town surrendering their single goal lead on Staurday.  There was more to this defeat than fitness, exposing an awful lot about Wilson and the squad. Austin looked very tired and despite working hard as usual, couldn’t be his typical attacking threat.  Wilson was too late to substitute
