Vic Morgan: Double? No a treble please…

Former BBC Wiltshire match commentator Vic Morgan writes his weekly blog…

Don’t get me wrong, I’m very happy that Swindon have got back to back victories. I’m greedy though and I’d like Saturday to bring us a hat trick of wins which would give us a real chance of making sure we don’t make that dreaded drop back to League Two.

I think it’s fair to say that in the last two games we’ve seen a couple of dominant performances. Okay, Coventry are bottom of the league and look doomed, but you still have to put them away.

Nicky Ajose announced his return in good style with a couple of really good strikers goals and Jon Obika looks back to something like his best after a long spell out with injury.

What’s been noticeable about these wins though is the presence of Rohan Ince. He’s one of those players who must frighten the life out of the opposition. Quite simply he’s a monster in midfield.

How often have we wanted someone like that with sheer physical presence who can play a bit too. That allied to Ben Gladwin beginning to find his feet again and that midfield looks pretty good to me. Oh, and the odd magical ball from Charlie Colkett helps too.

Surely there can’t have been too many games as one sided as Tuesday’s win over Gillingham. A pretty poor defensive error gave the Gills the chance of the opener but my how Rossi Branco atoned for his error with a thumping second half header. That and great finishes from the aforementioned Ince and Obika and it was a fine win.

So two in a row and confidence that it might be a hat trick with a victory over fellow strugglers Chesterfield at the weekend. Of course, over confidence might creep in but I can’t see that happening.

What was also a feature of the past two games has been the post match huddle. Could that replace the PDC raising of the scarf as a new tradition? We need something like that to unify us all after a game. I’m all for it.

As for the season ticket prices? I’m a definite renewal because I want to watch Swindon play. In fact I’ll renew before Saturdays game.

It’s your choice what you do of course, just as its mine.

Keep it loud keep it proud keep it SWINDON!
