Off against Leyton Orient, sending-off against Crawley…

It’s Friday, so it must be time for the latest blog by BBC Devon’s Vic Morgan.
Tough to take wasn’t it? Fair result though… Leyton Orient were well organised, had a game plan and left Wiltshire with the three points.
Swindon had a more than decent shout for a penalty waved away. A decision which led to scenes nobody wants to see on a football pitch. That aside, I thought Orient deserved the win and couldn’t feel aggrieved at the result. Sometimes you just have to hold your hands up and say we were beaten by the better side.
Because of work commitments I wasn’t able to make Crawley on Tuesday night. By all accounts I didn’t miss much. For the first time in over 30 games, statistic provided by the Washbag himself*, Swindon were involved in a goalless draw.
Getting a point away from home is always acceptable. Particularly as the second sending-off in successive games reduced the Town to ten men again.
Apparently Nathan Byrne’s dismissal was rather harsh and an appeal could be launched. The thing is we never know how the sending off affects the game and no amount of appeals will ever put the player back in the actual match. Just ask Sunderland how frustrating that is. They lost Wes Brown to a red card which was eventually overturned two days later. Doesn’t change the fact that Brown’s team were hampered by what was a bad decision. They don’t get a rematch.
Another home game this weekend with Carlisle United making the long trip to the County Ground. A win would see a return of four points from three games. About average and enough to keep us in the shake up.
There are concerns though. Defensively there have been some glaring errors and we seem very light on firepower. Loan moves could help that we’ll see. I still have to say I’m more than pleased with the season so far. In that top eight but with lots still to do.
So to Saturday then keep it loud keep it proud keep it SWINDON.
