Match Preview: Swindon Town vs Notts County

Form Guide…

7th placed Swindon Town thrashed Rotherham United 4-0 to move within touching distance of the play-offs for the first time this season.

Town have won their previous two games to move up to 9th in the League One form guide following three wins, one draw and two defeats.

As hosts, Swindon are unbeaten in five League One games, winning the previous three games and only dropping two points (against Gillingham). Town are the only unbeaten hosts in the division along with Leyton Orient and MK Dons.

22nd placed Notts County beat Crewe Alexandra 4-0 over a week ago, but that is a rare highlight in an otherwise uninspiring start to the season. The Magpies are 22nd in the League One form guide with two wins and four defeats.

On their travels, County are without a win this season. Their five games have yielded a single point at Walsall. Similar in many ways to Town’s woeful away form before Rotherham, we hope they don’t find form at the County Ground…

Swindon-Town-FC.co.uk Head-to-Head…

In all League, FA Cup and Football League competitions, Town have faced Notts County on 60 occasions, winning 25, drawing 12 and defeated 23 times; scoring 85 and conceding 77.

At the County Ground, Swindon have a record of 19 wins, 6 draws and 6 defeats, scoring 63 and conceding 31.

Swindon haven’t beaten Notts County in four games at the County Ground and eight games overall.

Town’s last win at the County Ground came in August 2003. The 4-0 win was courtesy of goals from Matt Hewlett, Tommy Mooney, Sam Parkin and Sammy Igoe.

Swindon have failed to score against County only once in all 31 games as hosts. That clean sheet for Notts County came in their previous visit in March 2013 in a goalless draw.

Prediction

Surely Town’s unbeaten home form will continue against the Magpies considering they’ve yet to register an away victory this season.

Against Swindon will be our poor run of form against County in recent years and the fact that if Town can win 4-0 at Rotherham, they why can’t Notts County stun the hosts with a win on Friday night..?

I’ll bet on County opening the scoring, but Town to come through an register a 3-1 win.

Final-score: 3-1 to Swindon

Come on You Reds!
