Vic Morgan Blog: Autumn or is it fall..?

It’s Friday, so it must be time for the latest blog by BBC Devon’s Vic Morgan.
You might be forgiven for thinking Swindon Town looked a bit like Casualty at the moment, or for those old enough to remember Emergency Ward 10. Players have been falling by the wayside at an alarming rate. Preston North End saw those in red and white reduced in numbers seemingly by the moment.
Those were added to the list of squad members already sidelined. So all in all the trip to Deepdale wasn’t the best. Heavy tackles and comical defending led to another away defeat. While Town’s home form is excellent, its the results on the road which is cause for concern. Just one point away from the County Ground so far.
When you look at the second Preston goal on Saturday its not hard to see why. Defensively we find it difficult on our travels. That’s something which I’m sure Mark Cooper is aware of. Another factor is that teams on their own patch seem to find it easier to press Swindon, therefore stifling the creative play we see when Town are at home.
Not only that Saturday was horrible. A game to forget and a long journey to put behind us.
Better news was that Yaser Kasim has signed an extension to his contract. There’s no doubt he’s become a firm favourite.
Comparisons are drawn to Swindon players past. The best one I’ve seen so far is Brian Williams. Brian was affectionately known as “Animal” for his likeness to the Muppet drummer. Whole hearted and dominant Brian was the 70’s Kasim. I wish Yaser a long and successful Swindon Town career. I think the boy can play.
This weekend its our old friends from the Wirrall who come calling.
Tranmere Rovers have become a bit of a team to knock as far as Town fans are concerned. It all got a bit strange last season 5-0 thrashings, odd postponements. Hopefully Saturday comes and goes with Swindon taking the points. Sticky September is over let’s hope its Okay October.
