Ben Beaumont’s 2013/14 Hopes and Expectations

TheWashbag contributor Benjamin Beaumont looks ahead to the 2013/14 season…
What are your hopes and expectations for Swindon in 2013/14?
I’ve never been less certain of what might happen. The hope is that all these young fledglings gel into a fast, slick, high-tempo footballing machine that rises to the top and stays there, whoever the manager.
The fear is that the uncertainty and poor communication behind the scenes, the lack of experience, and the absence of a manager (for now) gives us a disastrous start from which we don’t recover. I’m a pessimist at heart, so I’m leaning towards the latter scenario, but I hope I can be proved wrong.
Who has been your signing of the summer at the County Ground?
I’m not going to pretend I know how good any of these Spurs youngsters are, but I will say I was pleased when Luongo signed a deal – he looked sharp towards the end of the season. Hopefully he can dictate the play and make up for the lack of my favourite boofy-haired Scot.
Who will be the key player for Town?
Foderingham. Who else? Especially if we end up in a relegation dog fight.
In what position will we finish?
Who knows, really? I’m going to take a wild guess and say 17th.
Which teams will be promoted from League One?
Again, I’m not going to pretend I know about these things. Wolves (obviously), Sheffield United (finally), Bradford City (surprisingly).
Which teams are set to be relegated from League One?
God, it could be anyone really. Total guesswork: Stevenage, Carlisle, Leyton Orient, Walsall.
