Match Preview: Swindon vs Bradford City

Form… 7th placed Swindon have won 4 , drawn 1 and lost 1 of their previous 6 games, having won 3 successive games and are unbeaten in their last 5 games at the County Ground.

Lowly 21st placed Bradford City have won 2, drawn 1 and lost 3 of their previous 6 games. The Bantams lost their previous game 1-0 away at Macclesfield and are winless in 8 league games on their travels.

Phil Parkinson’s side join Accrington as the only teams yet to win away in League Two this season.

Swindon Team Speculation… With 3 successive victories Paolo Di Canio is unlikely to want to alter his starting XI.

However Alan McCormack limped off midweek and may miss out against Bradford City with Joe Devera or Alessandro Cibocchi waiting to deputise.

Bradford City Team Speculation… Robbie Threlfall is set to miss Bradford’s trip to Swindon as he picked up a thigh strain in their defeat to Macclesfield. The full-back limped off and was replaced by Luke O’Brien, who is expected to get the nod against the Robins.

Swindon-Town-FC.co.uk Head-to-Head… In the 28 Football League and Cup matches between the sides, Swindon have won 10 games, drawn 9 and defeated 9 occasions. The sides have never met in the FA Cup.

Our record at the County Ground is impressive with 8 wins, 3 draws and 3 defeats from the 14 matches.

The sides have not met since the 2005/06 season when Swindon lost 2-3 at the County Ground (Fallon 2) and managed a 1-1 draw away (O’Hanlon) on the way to relegation from League One.

Our recent home record is patchy with 2 of the 3 defeats we’ve suffered against the Bantams in the last 3 games.

What The Stats Say… Bradford’s awful away form is reflected in our League Two rankings. The club is currently ranked 23rd in defence and 22nd in attack. They have two key weak points on their travels; allowing an average of 13.4 shots at them per game and allow the second highest number of corners per game at 7.8. So expect plenty of action in and around the Bradford box on Saturday.

In terms of goals conceded, the Bantams have let in 14 in their away games, with the majority (9) conceded after half time and 36% of their total goals against in the final 15 minutes.

Kickoff.co.uk Prediction…

% Chance of Full Time Result: Swindon win: 69% | Bradford win: 11% | Draw: 20%

% Chance of Scoreline: Swindon 1 Bradford 0: 13% | Swindon 2 Bradford 0: 13% | Swindon 2 Bradford 1: 10% | Swindon 0 Bradford 1: 5%

My prediction… With Swindon on a roll and Bradford yet to impress away from Valley Parade I’m expecting a fourth Town victory in a row.

Swindon will win 3-0 and another cleansheet for Foderingham to fire us closer to the automatic promotion places.

Bradford are a real banna skin fixture, we are on high after defeating Gillingham with two superb goals and really riding are luck, we need to avoid complaceny at all costs, 3-0 would be great but as long as we win even if it comes off someones shin in the area I will be thrilled. Could reach top three tommorow, the futures bright, the futures red, the futures Poalo!

Perhaps I’m optimisitic with the 3-0 prediction. But hey…until 4.45 tomorrow afternoon and I can wish for anything.

I definately agree we’ll be up there at the top of this league sooner rather than later.

Just hope Southend and Crawley don’t open up too much of a gap at the top.
