Nicolás Raimondi joins Town on trial

Swindon Town might just become an even more eclectic range of nationalities if this signing comes off.

After being released by Lokomotiv Plovdiv of the Bulgarian top division, 6ft 5 in Uruguayan striker Nicolás Raimondi will today join Swindon Town on trial.

With Paolo Di Canio’s long search for an imposing ‘big man’ striker yet to yield any signing, can the 26 year old man from Montevideo prove himself in the coming days to earn a contract?

Raimondi is well travelled, having played for hometown club Liverpool, yes the other Liverpool from Montevideo, then clubs in Chile, Italy, Brazil, Bolivia, Cyprus, and then plying his trade in Bulgaria for the 2010/2011 season at 5th place Plovdiv.

Hopefully Nicolás will be the answer to our striking shortage.
