After 230 days…5,516 hours…21 matches…only 3 starts.. and 465 minutes of first team action, our eternal substitute and luckless Vincent Pericard has finally opened his account for Swindon Town.

Vincent scored the opening goal for Town against a managerless Southampton in our 3-0 victory in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy game at St Mary’s.

The journeyman striker volleyed in Charlie Austin’s cross into the roof of the net after 29 minutes to send 499 travelling Town fans delirious. I only wish I was there to saviour the moment Vincent finally scored.

Charlie Austin scored Town’s second and his third goal of the season after 63 minutes with a low foot volley into the corner of the net from a Kevin Amankwaah cross.

After waiting 465 minutes for his first, it only took Vincent another 61 minutes to register his second. A close range effort from an Alan O’Brien cross. Fantastic stuff!

Now with a huge monkey off his back, surely a first League One goal is on the cards this Saturday in Pericard’s return to Brunton Park to face former club Carlisle.

Well done Town, a first win of 2010/2011, a convincing win and knocking out the holders in the process. Push on! Look upwards! Let this kick start the league season! Come On You Reds!
