Match Preview: Swindon Town vs Coventry City
Form Guide…
4th placed Swindon have won five of our previous six matches in all competitions, including that 1-0 victory at Bury last weekend. That defeat came on the 2nd October, with Colchester United coming away with 3 points from the County Ground. A second defeat as hosts this season.
Coventry City are 19th and two points outside of the relegation zone. The Sky Blues are unbeaten in four games in all competitions, having beaten Oldham Athletic and Bournemouth in League, as well as York City in the JPT midweek. After conceding plenty prior to their trip to Oldham, Coventry have conceded once – in the 1-1 draw at home to MK Dons – in their four matches.

The two home defeats by Leyton Orient and Colchester proved that its all well and good restricting our opponents to the fewest shots average per game and second fewest percentage on target, we’ve not been at our sharpest and conceded sloppy goals.
Our problems aren’t limited to the defensive errors. The attack just doesn’t get anywhere near enough opportunities to shoot with a 19th ranked 8.8 shots per game. A low ranked average of shots may be compensated by accuracy, however too many shots have been off target. The 4th ranked strike rate proves that when Swindon get into a rhythm – such as against Bournemouth – we take some beating. The problem facing us is how few teams come here as poorly prepared as the Cherries, with many not allowing us to dominate proceedings.

Town have been strongest and most clinical in the first half at the County Ground and slow out of the blocks after their half time oranges.

Coventry have been susceptible to conceding either side of half time and in the final 15 minutes on their travels in League One.
My prediction…
A certainly see Coventry will score, however Town will secure a Fjortoft inspired 3-1 victory.
Come on You Reds!
