Match Preview: Swindon Town vs Crawley Town

Form Guide…

A goalless draw at Hartlepool United was our 1000th in league football, signalling a frustrating start to League One, particularly after Tommy Miller missed a penalty. The draw makes it four league and cup matches without tasting defeat. At the County Ground, Swindon are unbeaten in 26 league and cup matches, a run stretching back to a 1-3 defeat by Southampton on the 30th August 2011.

Crawley Town stormed to a 3-0 victory over relegated Scunthorpe on Saturday which moved the Red Devils to the top of League One, alphabetically. Crawley are unbeaten in a run of 9 away league and cup matches, last beaten on their travels 2-1 at Shrewsbury on 27th February 2012.

Swindon-town-fc.co.uk History Book…

Perhaps one of Swindon’s newest rivals given our recent history, the first meeting between the two sides was a friendly back on 23rd July 2005. Conference side Crawley were beaten 4-3 at Broadfield Stadium thanks to an unlikely brace each from Jamie Cureton and Michael Pook.

Town leapfrogged Crawley to move up to 4th in League Two with a superb 3-0 victory at the County Ground.

Luke Rooney reacted quickest to pick up a loose ball after a free kick to fire Town one ahead.  Early in the second half, Billy Bodin scored his first goal at home, shooting long from outside the box. The third was a straightforward poachers effort from Paul Benson.

My prediction…

2-0 to Swindon and a double from Andy Williams, what about your prediction..?

Come on You Reds!
