2012/13 Season: Hopes & Expectations – Nick Judd
Throughout this week our writers reveal their hopes and expectations for Swindon Town in League One during 2012/13. Next up, Nick Judd…
Hopes and expectations for the season: Like last summer, I have no idea what to expect from the team or the manager but I hope we’ll challenge in the top six. It’s crucial we seize the momentum from last season. There is a buzz about the club and long may it continue.
This is when we find out what our manager is really made of, no doubt this division will be infinitely tougher than League Two. My fear is we lose a few games, Paolo loses the plot and we unravel. Quickly.
Signing of the summer: James Collins. I think he’ll be the key man in attack and while we’ve seen signs of promise in pre-season, League One is unchartered territory for him. If the wingmen are on form he’ll have plenty of ammunition to feed off.
Who will be the key player for STFC in 12/13 and why? I’m intrigued by Alan McCormack. Rumours are that Paolo doesn’t think he can do the job at the back in League One, but last season he was an inspiration on and off the field. Competition at the back will be fierce! I do fancy Troy to pitch in with a few goals.
STFC Predicted Final Position: 3rd
League One Promoted: Sheffield United, MK Dons and Swindon Town
League One Relegated: Portsmouth, Bury, Leyton Orient and Walsall
