Vic Morgan Blog: Friday Dear Friday
The ramblings of BBC Devon’s Vic Morgan..
So then how cold were you at the Don Valley..?
After a winter of Spring like temperatures, it was a case of wrap up and try to keep as warm as you could against the South Yorkshire chill.
Great afternoon though. Our first and only visit to Rotherham’s temporary home, and a worthwhile one.
Because of where we were sat it took a millisecond for Matt Ritchie’s first to register. A temporary delay while we realised the Town were one up…then great celebration.
Another super strike quickly followed, and the day turned out to be a successful one. Credit to the home side for a fighting second half, and of course Alex Revell scored against us.
I take the view that we should let him score in the first minute, and then it’s out of the way isn’t it…?
Another positive aspect was the availability of a non-meat pie.
Now as a vegetarian, I get a little disgruntled at times about the lack of food at football grounds for people of a similar mind to me. I’ve never understood why a burger van can’t put a veggie burger on the side, for somebody like me who’s a bit peckish.
Don’t suppose things will change in that regard though, after all we’re only in the 21st Century.
ROONEY ROONEY..
Will echo around the County Ground for the first time on Saturday.
Welcome to Paolo’s revolution Luke, and I hope you have a long and successful stay.
For a fan, there’s nothing like new players coming to the club. It’s a bit like going on a first date, although for someone like me that was a while ago.
You see the player, get your first impressions, and then see if they’ll work for you or not…. Let’s hope all the new boys get taken to our Red and White hearts, and we have long and stable relationship.
Talking of new players, it seems like coach loads are arriving at the moment. Ronan Murray is back for the rest of the season on loan. We say goodbye, however, to Albert Commazzi, who returns to Italy after a brief spell in Wiltshire. We wish him well.
But I suppose the name JAMES CONSTABLE will provoke the most debate.
To switch from our fiercest rivals, especially after winning them three points at the County Ground earlier this season, would always prove difficult.
Many stories about his being a Swindon fan have surfaced since then. The bid was another indication of the clubs tremendous ambition. However the player decided to stay with the club from along the A420, and so therefore we must let it rest. It means the game at the Kassam later this season will now prove even more tasty. Hey if a player doesn’t want to play for us, then we don’t want him.
So, Macclesfield then this Saturday.
Not a side that Swindon have a great record against, and I hope our Chihuahuas, are proud Chihuahuas, who take three more points.
Off to the Arkell’s stand then for a non-meat pie…..oh of course we don’t sell them…
By the way, thank you for the tremendous messages and support I’ve had over the past few days. The situation over commentaries is not of my making, but I can do little about it. SWINDON fans you are the BEST, THE BEST.
Thank you from the bottom of my red and white heart.
Follow me on Twitter @swindonred, and keep it loud, keep it proud, keep it SWINDON.
