League Two predicted points: Southend on for 96 and Swindon 61
Seeing that we’ve passed a quarter of the games in League Two this campaign it’s time to get out my predicted points finishes table for the first time.
Based on projecting the home and away form of each club forward to the end of the season, this table gives a points and goal difference equivalent of each team’s potential return come May.
These predicted point tables will become more useful as the season progresses and sides have played an unequal number of matches.
At this time the predicted positions follow the existing League positions.
Southend take the title on goal difference from Crawley after both finishing on 95.8 points…ok then 96.
AFC Wimbledon beat Shrewsbury to the 3rd automatic spot by virtue of goals scored.
Cheltenham get into the play-offs on goals scored.
If continued, Plymouth’s awful start would see them pick up just 19 points.
Town would finish on 61 points. Not what I had been expecting…
What this shows is how Swindon’s current 4 point deficit to 7th placed Cheltenham is equivalent to 15 points at the end of the season.
To challenge for the automatic promotion we need to up our game to secure an extra 0.59 points per game and ideally need to be achieving over 2 per game throughout the season to be thinking about the League Two title.
