Stat Pack: Oldham Athletic vs Swindon Town
8th placed Swindon Town were well and truly spanked by Walsall on Tuesday night. The extra days rest after the comfortable win over Notts County was meant to do the trick, yet it was Town who didn’t do their homework and were easily exploited by the West Midlands side.
After winning their previous three games before Walsall, despite that defeat Town stay 4th in the League One form guide following four wins, zero draws and two defeats.
On their travels Swindon beat Rotherham United 4-0 a few weeks back. That was Town’s only away win in League One this season to add to one draw and four defeats.
19th placed Oldham Athletic are also 19th in the form guide with one win, two draws and three defeat. The Lactics were beaten 2-0 at Wolves in midweek.
As hosts, Oldham are unbeaten in three games and beat Carlisle United 1-0 last Saturday to record a position of 12th of all hosts with two wins, two draws and two defeats.
In all League, FA Cup and Football League competitions, Town have faced Oldham Athletic on 47 occasions, winning 18, drawing 12 and defeated 17 times; scoring 76 and conceding 66.
At Boundary Park, Swindon have a record of 5 wins, 8 draws and 9 defeats, scoring 29 and conceding 39.
The two sides drew 1-1 in their previous meeting at the County Ground in March 2013 with Adam Rooney equalising for Town.
Of that starting XI earlier this year three players remain active in the Town squad – Foderingham, Ward and Thompson – whereas Alan Navarro has put on some weight…
Swindon have two or more goals in nine of the previous 13 fixtures between the sides.
The sides have only played out one goalless draw in the 22 meetings at Boundary Park.
Swindon have only won once in six visits.
Oldham have only won once in six games as hosts.
With confidence down after the midweek defeat and Adam Rooney bound to score for Oldham, if Swindon can come back down the M6 with a point on Saturday that would be a reasonable return…
Come on You Reds!
